Is Nokia X Phone A True Android Smartphone

After much speculation Nokia has finally stepped into the market of android smartphones by launching Nokia X Android phone. The phone was first showcased by Nokia during the MWC at Barcelona in Spain on 24th Feb 2014. At this event the company has also unveiled Nokia X+ and XLsmartphones. Indian consumers got the first chance to buy this brand new handset. The Nokia X price in India is Rs 8,599. It has already been available both online as well as offline retailers across India.

Nokia X Specification
It is a dual SIM phone which has a 4-inch WVGA LCD display with 480×800 pixel resolution and powered by a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. The phone has 512MB RAM and 4GB internal storage which can be expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. Disappointment for camera lovers as it supports only 3MP fixed-focus camera without an LED flash.

The most highlighted feature of the handset is Android Open Source Project (AOSP). The Nokia X phone runs on the highly customised version of Android, with Metro-inspired UI and access to Nokia’s own app store. As there is no access to Google play store, but users can side-load Android apps from any third-party source. The company has used AOSP because windows phone services are better than android phones. As per the company the AOSP version is equivalent to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean as the baseline for its operating system.

Users can enjoy various connectivity options such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS with A-GPS, EDGE, GPRS and 3G. The phone offers 1500mAh battery which can deliver up to 13 hrs of talk time and up to 672 hours of standby time on 2G network. Apart from these features users can also enjoy 3GB of additional free OneDrive storage for photos, with auto-sync features. Right now the Nokia X is available in Black, Green, Cyan, Yellow, Red, and White color variants.

Nokia X+ and XL are the next two models of Nokia X family which are expected to available in India in next two months. These smartphones will be the enhanced version of Nokia X and be more expensive.
